An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Swing Time, the 1936 George Stevens romantic love triangle musical dancing comedy ("With six new haunting melodies by Jerome Kern composer of 'Roberta'"; "Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers in the captivating climax of their gay young lives!..."; about a man and woman who are supposed to marry others, but they end up falling in love with each other) starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Victor Moore, Helen Broderick, Eric Blore, Betty Furness, Georges Metaxa, and Dennis O'Keefe. Note that this was one of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", thirteen years later in 1949). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tears and areas of paper loss around the edges (extending into the image in several areas down the left and right) and there was an uneven heavy crease running across the bottom of the image (going just below the chins of the stars and going all the way from left to right). There were water stains in the top left and top right. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The window card was backed many years ago, and it is difficult to judge how well it was backed at the time, but it has not aged well, and the restoration paint in the lower left is dried out and chipping off, and the paint is quite noticeable in the upper right corner (see our image). If I owned this window card, I would immediately have a talented restorer remove the old restoration and have it properly re-restored, but this might be pretty expensive, so bear this expense in mind before placing a bid on this card.
