An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded International Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The French Connection, the classic 1971 William Friedkin (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) New York City police crime thriller ("Doyle is bad news - but a good cop."; "The time is just right for an out and out thriller like this."; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Gene Hackman (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle), Fernando Rey, Roy Scheider (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Tony Lo Bianco, Marcel Bozzuffi, Eddie Egan (the real life cop on whose career this movie was loosely based, and he played a cameo role in the movie), and Jose Fernandez NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a very rare "international" style B one-sheet (meaning it was printed in the U.S. for use in non-U.S. countries) with a different image from that of the domestic one-sheet (but this poster also has a photo montage at right that shows the climax of the very exciting and very long chase scene in the movie, and one would wonder why they would feature that scene on a poster that was intended to be displayed to people entering the movie, thus ruining the suspense of the scene!). We have only auctioned three examples of this poster in the last 20 years and the last one sold in 2019 for $722! Condition: fair to good. The poster has many tiny brown dot stains scattered throughout (see our image). There is some deterioration and paper loss along the center of the vertical foldline. It has a studio-issued snipe glued at lower left and a foreign ratings stamp at lower right in blank paper. It has a few pinholes, tears and areas of paper loss around the edges. After proper restoration the very rare style B international style poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration and see our super-sized image before bidding on it.
