An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8" x 11" [20 x 28 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Anne Nichols' Abie's Irish Rose, the 1928 Victor Fleming romantic newlyweds-of-different-religions-and-their-subsequent-difficulties melodrama ("Now! It's on the screen"; based on the classic Anne Nichols play about a Jewish man who marries an Irish girl) starring Jean Hersholt (as Solomon Levy), Charles 'Buddy' Rogers (in the title role as Abie Levy), Nancy Carroll (in the title role as Rosemary Murphy), J. Farrell MacDonald (as Patrick Murphy), Bernard Gorcey (as Isaac Cohen, which he had played in the Broadway stage version; much later famous as "Louie" in the "Bowery Boys" movies, starring his son Leo Gorcey!), Ida Kramer, Thelma Todd, and Camillus Pretal (as Rabbi Jacob Samuels). Note that Bernard Gorcey was star Leo Gorcey's father, and he played Louie, the owner of the Sweet Shop, where the boys frequently hung out, and Louie was often involved in slapstick gags, and many times Leo Gorcey would be tormenting or slapping his own father! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this really cool key book still shows Thelma Todd greeting the stars of Abie's Irish Rose to Hollywood. They had starred in the Broadway version, which had been a huge hit, and the male star is none other than Bernard Gorcey, much later reduced to playing the part of Louie, the owner of the Sweet Shop in his son Leo's Bowery Boys movies! Also note that this still has been mounted to a linen type material and has an extra 1" at the left of the still, along with four punch holes in that extra area (typical of many key book stills).
