He was known for his prolific and influential work in New Wave speculative fiction and for his outspoken, combative personality. Robert Bloch, the author of Psycho, described Ellison as "the only living organism I know whose natural habitat is hot water." His published works include more than 1,700 short stories, novellas, screenplays, comic book scripts, teleplays, essays, and a wide range of criticism covering literature, film, television, and print media. Ellison won numerous awards, including multiple Hugos, Nebulas, and Edgars. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 84 Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Harlan Ellison! Our consignor worked for a magazine and was assigned to interview Mr. Ellison at his home. She did so, and when she was wrapping up the interview, he turned away and quickly typed this and handed it to her, saying he wanted it published at the start of the interview. Naturally, it is filled with sarcastic remarks and off-color language, all the more humorous because he was being interviewed for a family magazine! Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a ""lifetime guarantee"" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
