An Unfolded Special Poster (measures 21" x 28 1/4" [53 x 72 cm]) (Learn More) Sadie Hasson, the circa 1890s poster ("Laughingly Thine") created by the Chicago Banknote Company, and featuring a profile image of Sadie Hasson. Sarah Ann "Sadie" Hasson Dowling was born in Amherstberg, Ontario in 1856 and came to the U.S. with her parents in 1862. As a teenager, she began performing with a traveling theater company. In 1886 she married Joseph J. Dowling who was a well-known actor and producer. Sadie and Joseph toured the country with their theater company, starring in popular melodramas such as "Nobody's Claim" and "The Red Spider". The couple were divorced in 1894 and Sadie toured and starred in her own show titled "A Kentucky Girl". She retired from the stage around 1901 and lived the rest of her life with her children in Mount Clemens, Michigan. She passed away in 1937 at the age of 81.
