An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Tempest, the 1928 Sam Taylor Russia Revolution-era romantic melodrama (about a Russian military officer who has an affair with a noblewoman, and she rejects him and has him thrown in prison, but after the Revolution, he is freed from prison and is put in charge of the Red Army, and he is supposed to execute his former lover, but instead he runs off to Europe with her) starring John Barrymore, Camilla Horn, Louis Wolheim, Boris de Fast, and George Fawcett NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a special poster, a local theater window card, and some stills from this movie (but no other studio-issued posters) until we received this half-sheet! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Finally, note that because this half-sheet was printed on a slightly heavier paper, it makes far more sense for it to be sent in a large flat package than rolled in a tube, because we are afraid that rolling it could cause damage to it, and we would hate for that to happen! We will only send it rolled in a tube if the buyer insists, and accepts full responsibility in case there is any damage to it. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It it somewhat fragile and has paper loss in each blank corner and some tears in the blank borders that have tape on the back of them, but is otherwise in surprisingly nice condition, and could be framed as it is, if handled carefully, or certainly, it would be a straightforward restoration to repair the loss in the blank borders. Other than the above defects, the poster is in nice condition, especially considering its age. Learn More about condition grades
