An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Cheat, the 1923 George Fitzmaurice silent romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the story by Hector Turnbull; a wild story with racist overtones; a South American woman elopes with a rich American stock broker, and her father disinherits her, and she is kidnapped by an Indian man who says he is a Prince, but he is really a crook; he cheats the woman out of money, but offers to forgive the debt if she will sleep with him, but when the woman refuses him, he literally "brands" his family's mark on her shoulder, and she shoots him; her husband takes the blame and is tried for the murder, but is acquitted when she reveals the brand of shame!) starring Pola Negri, Jack Holt, Charles de Rochefort, Dorothy Cumming, and Robert Schable. This is a remake of a 1915 movie of the same name starring Fannie Ward and Sessue Hayakawa. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
