An Original Vintage Theatrical French Promotional Movie Brochure (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; 6 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has one page. (Learn More) Christophe Colomb, the 1939 Abel Gance French historical biographical melodrama starring Victor Francen (in the title role as Christopher Columbus). This was a movie that Abel Gance started working on in 1939, and likely it was interrupted by the beginning of World War II (or perhaps Gance ran out of funds), and the movie was never completed or released. However, we have auctioned a really cool French promo brochure that has felt-like covers with embossed gold, and it says that the movie will be released in June 1939, and there is a separate letter in it that is dated April 5, 1939, which is likely when the brochure was mailed.
