An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Hearts in Bondage, the 1936 Lew Ayres (in his directorial debut) historical Civil War military Navy romantic melodrama (about the famous battle of the Monitor and the Merrimac, and the events leading up to it) starring James Dunn, Mae Clarke, David Manners, Charlotte Henry, Henry B. Walthall, Fritz Leiber, George Irving, Irving Pichel, and Frank McGlynn Sr. (who played Abraham Lincoln 12 times in his career). Note that famous actor Lew Ayres first tried directing in this movie, and then he waited 20 years to direct another one, which was a documentary, and waited another 20 years to direct a third (which was a remake of his earlier documentary)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still has both a wonderful "provenance", and also has an important signature on the back! It comes from the personal collection of actress Mae Clarke, who avidly collected stills from her own movies. In each case, she would take the still and write the names of the actors pictured on the front, and also the name of the movie in pen on the back of each still. Since she was writing her own name, that means that she "signed" every still, and this is one of them! This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a rare still from one of Mae Clarke's movies, as well as having her signature on the back! Also note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm].
