An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

Night and Day, the 1946 Michael Curtiz romantic musical composer biographical melodrama ("Based on the Career of Cole Porter") starring Cary Grant (as Cole Porter), Alexis Smith, Monty Woolley (who played himself; he was a real-life close personal friend of Cole Porter's), Ginny Simms, Jane Wyman, Eve Arden, Carlos Ramirez, Donald Woods, and Mary Martin. Note that the real life Cole Porter was a gay homosexual male (although he married), but this could obviously not be addressed in 1946, so the movie presents a very fictitious story of his life!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this insert, and that was 12 years ago!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had paper loss in the bottom right corner that extended into the back of Smith's hair and the area below it. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. A talented restorer did a nice job replacing the missing bottom right corner. It is slightly noticeable, but not distracting, and the poster can definitely be displayed and enjoyed. However, bear in mind this significant restoration and look at our super-sized image before bidding on this poster.
