An Original Vintage Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More)

Out of Bounds, the 1931 Aubrey Scotto golfing sports comedy short ("A Paramount Farce Comedy") starring Billy House. Note that Billy House is a virtually completely forgotten comedian today, but he had a long and distinguished career. Born in 1889, he was a vaudeville comic from 1905, and little is known about his career from then until around 1930, because all of it took place on stage. It is not even known if "Billy House" was his real name (it seems likely it was not). In 1930 and 1931, he made four shorts for Paramount, including this one, which were revised versions of his classic vaudeville routines. He had only a few other film appearances in the 1930s, but in the 1940s, he had many memorable roles, including in Bedlam, The Egg and I, and Inner Sanctum. He served as the model at Disney for Doc in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and also Schmee in "Peter Pan"! He had a great fan in Orson Welles, who hired him for The Stranger in 1946, and he was initially going to play a small role, but Welles grew his part as the movie was filmed! He also appeared in "The Fountain of Youth" and "Touch of Evil". He was a very large man, but graceful, sort of in the Jackie Gleason mold. Perhaps one day a movie will be made about him!
