The Menace, the 1932 Roy William Neill crime mystery thriller ("'The Menace' will get you! Will hold you! Will scare you! Will delight you!"; "Swift smart strong story"; "What part did this delightful monster play?"; "Romantic mystery drama!"; "From the story 'The Feathered Serpent' by Edgar Wallace"; about a man falsely accused by his stepmother of killing his father, when she actually did it, but after she gets him falsely convicted, he escapes prison, gets into a disfiguring explosion that requires face-changing plastic surgery which fortunately gives him a new identify, so he then proceeds to woo his stepmother in order to trick her into exposing her lies!) starring H.B. Warner, Bette Davis, Walter Byron, Natalie Moorhead, and William B. Davidson. Note that this was early in Bette Davis' career, and Warner Bros. did not yet realize what a major star she would become, and so they "loaned" her to Columbia to make this movie!
