The film, under the creative control of director Joe May (husband of Mia May), is noted for bringing together talent from across German cinema. The story follows a young Danish woman on her globe-trotting adventures to find the legendary lost treasure of the Queen of Sheba that she hopes will enable her to bring revenge on the man that caused her father to commit suicide and led to her own social destruction. In 1922, Paramount re-edited the series into 4 films for the U.S. audience. While the original series was intended to be a mix of adventure, melodrama and comedy, the American edit concentrated on the action.
