An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Her Cardboard Lover, the 1942 George Cukor romantic love triangle gambling comedy ("Playing with love is risky, but such fun!"; about a wealthy woman who hires a broke gambler to pretend to be her lover to put off a suitor, but then he actually falls in love with her) starring Norma Shearer (in her final screen appearance), Robert Taylor, George Sanders, Frank McHugh, Elizabeth Patterson, and Chill Wills. Note that Shearer remarried in 1942 after being widowed by Irving Thalberg in 1936, and retired after completing this film. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and minor wear on the foldlines. There were some creases, smudges, and pinholes around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but at some point after it was linenbacked, the entire poster and the linen was diagonally creased in the top left corner, extending into the edge of the hair of the headshot of Taylor, and through the tagline, but missing the image of Taylor embracing. Also, something happened to the upper left border that caused it to become stained. I would think that many people could display this poster just as it is, because the above crease is not very noticeable, and the stains are in the upper blank border, but if one wanted to have those issues corrected, they would almost certainly have to have the poster re-backed. Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border to allow it to more easily fit in a frame) Learn More about condition grades
