An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English Three-Sheet (called a 6sh in England) Movie Poster (3sh; measures 38 3/4" x 88 1/4" [98 x 224 cm]) (Learn More) Polly, the 1921 Fred Paul English silent horror melodrama short ("One-act film drama"; "No connection with the Little Theatre, London"; "British screen Grand Guignol series"). Note that we can find very little information about this film, except that it was part of the "Grand Guigno series" of almost 30 shorts, all directed by Fred Paul. This poster is numbered "12", indicating that it was the 12th film in the series. The series took it's name from an infamous Paris theater that specialized in horror stage plays. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this English three-sheet, which is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie! The poster had tears and areas of paper loss on parts of many folds, but fortunately not as many in the portion of the poster with the art of the woman. Unfortunately, after the poster was backed, it was roughly handled, and the poster is "lifting" from the linen in some areas. But much more significant, it became wet down the left 1", which has caused the poster to be very rippled in that area. Obviously, further restoration can be performed to this extremely rare poster, but please do not bid on it unless you can accept its significant defects described above and have looked at our super-sized image.
