An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The March of Time Volume XII (12), Issue XI (11), the 1946 newsreel ("Lips that touch liquor shall never touch mine"; "Can alcoholics be helped? Should they be jailed or hospitalized and intelligently treated...see the dramatic fight against the "disease" of alcoholism - from "Drys" to Alcoholics Anonymous!") featuring "Problem Drinkers". Prior to World War II, alcoholism was mostly seen as a personality defect, something that people could control if they wanted to. Thanks to the success of Alcoholics Anonymous, which began in 1935, and medical studies from scientists, including one from Yale University at this time, people were starting to see alcoholism as a disease instead, and this documentary was aimed at dispelling the myths about alcoholism! The March of Time was a monthly documentary released by 20th Century-Fox. Unlike other documentaries, they created a one-sheet for each serial that had a blank area at top left, where the theater was supposed to attach a window card for their current feature, so that the poster would advertise both the feature and the installment of The March of Time that they were showing. Likely, few theaters ordered these, and even more likely, any that were used, were almost surely discarded afterwards (because they couldn't be re-folded if they had a window card glued to the top left) This may explain why these March of Time one-sheets are extremely rare (we have seen ones from various installments in the series, but almost never have seen two examples of the same installment) If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster has slight discoloration at center and some pinholes along portions of the foldlines and edges.
