Date Sold 7/20/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical German 9 1/4" x 11 1/2" [23 x 29 cm] Movie Lobby Card #41 (Learn More) Vampyr - Der Traum des Allan Grey (commonly referred to simply as "Vampyr"; apparently released in English-speaking countries under a variety of titles such as "The Strange Adventure of David Gray", "Not Against The Flesh", but we have never seen any first release material with any of those titles!), the classic 1932 Carl Theodor Dreyer French/German vampire fantasy horror (based on the novel 'Carmilla' by Sheridan le Fanu; about a man who goes to a castle and initially scoffs at the local people's stories of an old female vampire, but eventually, he becomes a believer) starring Julian West (in the title role as Allan Grey), Maurice Schutz, Rena Mandel, Sybille Schmitz, Jan Hieronimko, Henriette Gerard (as the aged female vampire), Albert Bras, N. Babanini, and Jane Mora. Note that this is one of the most difficult classic horror titles to find any movie paper from, especially country of origin! Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" lobby card for this partially German movie! It has an embossed German stamp in the lower left. This is one of the most difficult titles for any collector to ever acquire ANY first release item from, from ANY country! In all our years of auctioning, we have only ever auctioned two German programs (which were partial country of origin), but NEVER anything else from any country. We are incredibly happy to be able to offer this first release German lobby card. Not only is it a wonderful item just because it is a German lobby card, but it has a fantastic scene of the servant driving a stake through the vampire in the cemetery! Also note that this German lobby card measures 9 1/4" x 11 1/2" [23 x 29 cm]. Condition: very good. There are faint smudges and stains scattered around the edges of the lobby card, but they are not very noticeable (except when the card is tilted to the light). I would think every collector would be delighted to display this incredibly German lobby card on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
