eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1s021 BUCK JONES 11x19 framed display '30s the cowboy star with cool ad for Daisy air rifles! Date Sold 4/21/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Framed Display (measures 1" x 11" x 19") (Learn More) Buck Jones was the great cowboy western star who also was one of William Fox's top cowboy actors in the 1920s, before he switched to Columbia, where he became their leading star in the 1930s. He made scores of westerns, and early in his career he also appeared in many non-cowboy roles. When he first started making movies, he was billed as "Charles Gebhart" (which was his real name). In the middle 1910s, his billing changed to "Buck Gebhart", and it was not until early 1920 that he became "Buck Jones" (sometimes billed as either "Charles Jones" or "Charles 'Buck' Jones"). Some of his movies include: Lazybones, Empty Saddles, and The Phantom Ride. He was still making movies when he died tragically in the Coconut Grove nightclub fire in 1942. He was 50 years old. Important Added Info: Note that this framed display (which may hold original items, but which more likely holds reproduction stills) comes from the estate of the late Alex Gordon, who was the president of the Gene Autry Fan Club in the 1940s, and who produced movies in the 1950s (several in collaboration with Ed Wood), and who spent the last decades of his life working closely with Gene Autry, overseeing the licensing of his name, movies, and other properties. Mr. Gordon had this framed display on the wall of his office for decades! IMPORTANT! We don't want to open up the display, so we are assuming the photos are reproductions, so please make a bid assuming that to be correct. Condition: good. The display is in nice condition except that there are water stains on all three glass pieces which have migrated to the photos, and caused them to have brown water stains. I would think the person who purchases this would want to carefully remove the three glass pieces and then reuse the display with three photos of their choice! Learn More about condition grades
