He typically wears a sailor suit with a cap and a black or red bow tie and is well-known for his semi-intelligible speech and his mischievous and irritable personality. He had his own series of cartoons, and in the 1940s, he became even more popular than Mickey Mouse! He had a long-suffering girlfriend, Daisy Duck, and three "nephews", Huey, Dewey, and Louie, but no reference was ever made to the nephews' parents!
