That Nazty Nuisance, the 1943 Glenn Tryon World War II (WWII) anti-Nazi patriotic comedy ("Let loose your laughter and see the axis get the axe!"; "It shoots gags at you with the speed of ack-ack! See Schickelgruber and Benito board a Yankee submarine by mistake!"; "It's globalaughter as the Yanks attack the Axis from the rear!"; "Suki-Yaki Schickelgruber and Benito are falling into traps and mishaps again, louder and funnier than those that laid them flat in 'The Devil With Hitler'! It's knock-'em-down and drag-'em-out comedy with block-busting laughs!"; produced by Hal Roach) starring Bobby Watson (as Adolf Hitler), Joe Devlin (as Mussolini), Johnny Arthur (as Suki Yaki; a parody of Hirohito!), Jean Porter, Ian Keith, Frank Faylen, Henry Victor, Ed (Strangler) Lewis, and Abe (King Kong) Kashey, both of whom were well-known professional wrestlers. Note that director Glenn Tryon had been a major silent comedy star for producer Hal Roach. Also, this type of film was known as a "streamliner", which was between a short and a feature in length (usually running from 42 to 47 minutes). Note that in the early days of World War II, comedy movies like this were made depicting Hitler as a buffoon. When news of the atrocities he had committed began to surface, that ended the cartoonish portrayals! Note that this was one of two movies that Hal Roach made during World War II that featured this group of actors portraying comic versions of Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito (the other one was "The Devil with Hitler"). Bobby Watson also appeared as Hitler in other movies, but naturally, the end of World War II (and the death of Hitler) reduced his opportunities to keep playing Hitler, although he did have a few cameo appearances after the war as well.
