A 1946 Re-Release (re-titled "Louisiana Gal" for this re-release) Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Old Louisiana, the 1937 Irvin Willat (billed as "I. V. Willat") Louisiana Purchase historical romantic melodrama starring Tom Keene, Rita Hayworth (billed as "Rita Cansino", which was her real name!), Will Morgan, Robert Fiske, and Ray Bennett. Note that Rita Hayworth appeared in a number of westerns as the love interest in the mid-1930s, when she first made movies. In the early 1940s, after she became a major star, many studios re-released those early westerns, very deceptively top billing Rita Hayworth, and usually re-titling the movies, so as to mislead audiences into thinking they were seeing a brand new Rita Hayworth movie! In this case, the title "Old Lousiana" was changed to "Louisiana Gal", and Hayworth was given huge billing on the poster! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. We have only previously auctioned two first release lobby cards and a few stills, as well as one example of this re-release one-sheet (10 years ago) and three re-release lobby cards until we received this poster! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds. It had an 8" tear in the top left going into the man's hair and the top of his ear. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
