Implacable foe of the white man!"), John Hodiak ("as Brecan, Gable's friend and rival!"), James Whitmore ("as Old Bill Morgan... his knife as sharp as his roving eye!"), Adolphe Menjou ("as Pierre... he pays a debt... and saves a life!"), J. Carrol Naish ("as Chief Looking Glass... he trades a bride for a suit of armor!"), Jack Holt ("as Bear Ghost... he paid the price of vengeance!"), Maria Elena Marques (billed as "and introducing as Maria Elena Marques"; "as Kamiah... Fire in her black eyes... Love in her heart for the rugged white trapper!"), and Howard Keel (as the narrator). Note that James Whitmore is listed as "uncredited" on IMDB, and he is missing from most U.S. advertising. Perhaps he was added as a result of his work on films such as Battleground & The Next Voice You Hear, or perhaps most of his scenes were removed from the film, and posters were created which did not credit him. The stills have turned a brownish sepia color, which is not unattractive. One still has a pinhole in each corner and a 1/2" tear in the center of the bottom title area.. Many of them have original notations on the back that would certainly seem to confirm that they are indeed original.
