An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Double-Sided Teaser One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (released in the U.S. as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"), the 2001 Chris Columbus English/U.S. family witchcraft sorcerer magic adventure fantasy thriller ("Let the magic begin"; "Journey into your imagination"; "Journey beyond your imagination."; "Need a break from your family? Spend Christmas with Harry."; "It's everything you wished for this Christmas."; "Not the only one with a homemade sweater for Christmas?"; "It's everything you wished for... and more."; "Based on the novel by J.K. Rowling") starring Daniel Radcliffe (in the title role as Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (as Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (as Hermione Granger), Richard Harris (as Professor Dumbledore), Maggie Smith (as Professor McGonagall), Robbie Coltrane (as Hagrid), Ian Hart (as Professor Quirrell), Richard Brenner (as He Who Must Not Be Named), Alan Rickman (as Professor Snape), and John Cleese (as Nearly Headless Nick). Note that this film was known as "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" everywhere except the U.S., where it was known as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". This was to keep the film consistent with the book series because the U.S. publisher, Scholastic, had changed the title of the book to "Sorcerer's". The change was likely due in part to American children not being familiar with the mythical alchemist substance. An uncited source states the publisher also thought that an American child would not want to read a book with the word 'philosopher' in the title! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]. Also note that this is a teaser one-sheet (note the complete lack of credits on the poster). Finally, note that this is a double-sided poster. From the 1990s on, movie posters were often made in double-sided versions (for use in light boxes). If we do not note that a poster is double-sided (as this is), then it is single-sided. Note that the image on the reverse is a mirror image of the image on the front! Note that this is one of 113 unfolded one-sheets in this Part III of eMoviePoster.com's December Major Auction that were consigned to us by legendary French dealer/collector Dominique Besson (we auctioned 993 of his folded one-sheets in Part I of this auction, and we will auction the last 200 or so of his folded one-sheets in Part IV). Dominique Besson started collecting movie posters in 1981, and became a dealer in French and European posters in 1994, and has remained as a top dealer ever since! But in addition, 30 years ago, Dominique began collecting U.S. one-sheets, first those with Saul Bass art, and then adding Alfred Hitchcock posters, then Humphrey Bogart, and he finally ended up collecting in an amazing total of 47 different categories, purchasing the posters from all over the world! Now the time has come to sell this wonderful collection, and Dominique has chosen eMoviePoster.com to do so, through our auctions! As noted above, 113 of the unfolded one-sheets in this Part III come from this more remarkable collection. This is a very rare opportunity to purchase great unfolded one-sheets from one of the greatest one-sheet collections assembled! Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has some light creases around the edges, but otherwise it is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
