This means the lobby card was backed onto a very light paper backing (acid-free), that keeps the "feel" of the lobby card similar to that of the original lobby card. Some restorers prefer to paperback lobby cards on to a heavy backing, while others prefer to use a very lightweight backing. The advantage of a lightweight backing is that the card still "feels" like a regular lobby card, but a heavier backing makes restoration easier to do and less noticeable. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had darkened somewhat. It had paper loss in the upper right border, slightly touching the edge of the image. It had paper loss in the center of the bottom border, slightly reaching the bottom of the "D". There was paper loss in the top left blank corner and tiny paper loss in the upper center of the image, in the frame of the window. There was a 3" tear in the right border extending into Chaney's waist. Overall, the lobby card was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
