An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) When Worlds Collide, the classic 1951 Rudolph Mate science fiction (sci-fi) doomsday fantasy thriller ("Spectacle never before filmed!"; "Most amazing story that science or fiction ever imagined!"; "Planets Destroy Earth!"; "Giant planet collides with earth!"; "Enormous earthquakes swallow whole continents!"; "Tidal waves flood entire countries!"; "Space ship leaves earth!"; "Based on the famous novel by Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie"; produced by George Pal, who did the excellent special effects; a highly literate screenplay by Sydney Boehm; this is the sort of movie that proved that science fiction movies did not have to be silly to be critically acclaimed or popular with the public; it is a pity more movies did not follow this wonderful movie's formula!) starring Barbara Rush, Richard Derr, Peter Hanson, John Hoyt, Larry Keating, Frank Cady, and Stephen Chase NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had darkened, and it had small paper loss at each crossfold and someone had put tape on the back of each crossfold. There was a 2" vertical tear in the left of the top foldline and minor wear on the other folds. There were some tears and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. It appears that the poster came in contact with moisture after it was backed, because now the entire poster is rippled, and the original horizontal folds have returned. If I owned this great poster, I would surely have it re-backed (and during that time, additional restoration could be performed, possibly bleaching the poster lightly to brighten it).
