What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had many creases and scuffs scattered throughout, with some tiny stains and tiny paper loss in just a few places in the borders. The top border had staining in the top left. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above. Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame). I think most people would be happy with displaying this rare poster as it is, although, certainly, one could choose to have additional restoration performed, either with or without re-backing the poster.
