Date Sold 9/9/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) A Guy Named Joe, the 1944 Victor Fleming World War II (WWII) military airplane aviation pilot angel romantic love triangle fantasy melodrama ("A guy a gal a pal it's swell!"; "Screen Play by Dalton Trumbo"; about a WWII pilot who is killed, and who is made a guardian angel to another pilot, and then that pilot meets and falls in love with the dead pilot's girlfriend, and the angel must realize that it is right to do the noble thing and help his girlfriend forget him and find love with the living pilot!) starring Spencer Tracy, Irene Dunne, Van Johnson, Ward Bond, James Gleason, Lionel Barrymore, Barry Nelson, and Esther Williams. Note that it is likely this movie was made with this odd "love triangle" (where one of the principals was dead!), no doubt to help women who had lost their husbands or boyfriends in World War II to not feel so guilty about finding a new love afterwards! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fair to good. It appears there was marker writing on the back of the center of the card that bled through to the front, mostly in the title area, but also somewhat in Tracy's face. Someone linenbacked the card and they did a pretty good job of touching up the bleed through to where it is not very distracting (although you can clearly see where the restoration was on close inspection). There were areas of surface paper loss around the edges of the card that were not touched up. Learn More about condition grades
