If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY first release posters from this movie are incredibly rare! We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet (21 years ago, when it sold for $3,910) and a window card (8 years ago, when it sold for $710), as well as an "other company" half-sheet and insert. We have never before auctioned this first release half-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkened, typical of Warner Bros. linen posters of this period. It had creases and scuffs along both folds, with some tiny bits of paper loss. There was a faint diagonal crease in Bogart's nose and cheek, and a small vertical crease in Lane's cheek at left. It had some stains in the bottom center and a few in the bottom left corner, but fortunately in the blank background areas. It had some pinholes and tiny tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was linenbacked many years ago, with no excess, and the restoration paint that was used has aged differently from that of the poster, so it is much more noticeable now than it was when the poster was first backed. In spite of the defects and restoration, I would think that almost any collector would be happy to display this extremely rare poster as it is, or certainly, restoration could be performed.
