A Linenbacked Travel Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 43 1/2" [70 x 110 cm]) (Learn More)

World's Fair Travel Headquarters, the 1964 travel poster ("Ask us for Tour Information"; "See Sinclair Dinoland at the Fair") encouraging people to visit the 1964 - 1965 international exposition held from April 22nd through October 18th, 1964 and April 21st through October 17th, 1965. The theme of the fair was "Peace Through Understanding", dedicated to "Man's Achievement on a Shrinking Globe in an Expanding Universe" which was symbolized by the 12-story high, stainless-steel model of the earth called the Unisphere. Note that this poster features art of the Unisphere and the dinosaur mascot of the Sinclair Oil Corporation
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this particular 1964 New York World's Fair poster before, and it certainly has a wonderful image. Perhaps its rarity is connected to it having "POST IMMEDIATELY" printed at the bottom. This would imply that it was not made until the last minute, and maybe that resulted in there being fewer of them made, or fewer of them surviving. Either way, it is a rare poster that will look wonderful on the new owner's wall!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster had a pinhole in each top corner and minor fold and border wear. There is a small mark above the "s" of "us" at upper left that appears to be in the printing, but either way, it is a very minor defect. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
