An Original Vintage Limited Edition Hardcover Magazine (measures 11 1/2" x 14 1/2"; 109 pages) (Learn More)

Cinema Arts, September 1937, the limited edition hardcover version of this specific issue (we imagine that for the first few issues of this magazine they prepared numbered limited editions of each issue). This book is #367 of an edition of 700 and has the name of the person it was presented to written on the inside cover along with the numbering (perhaps they were presented to important theater owners). We imagine this was extremely expensive, and we don't know how many different issues this was done for (this is the third issue, and we imagine it was at least done for the first two issues). Cinema Arts was a cool movie magazine of the late 1930s with lots of "artistic" stories about then-current movies and stars, and also each issue was heavily illustrated in both black & white and in color. The purpose of the magazine, as stated on its contents page was to elevate movie making to an accepted art form! The cover of this issue is a great stylized portrait of Joan Crawford by Jaro Fabry, and there is an illustrated biography of her inside
