An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 102 pages) (Learn More)

Prairie Gunsmoke, the 1942 Lambert Hillyer cowboy western ("Running down outlaws! Whooping up song!") starring William 'Wild Bill' Elliott (as Wild Bill Hickok), Tex Ritter, Frank Mitchell, Virginia Carroll, and Tristram Coffin. Note that in 1938, Bill Elliot was cast as the title character in the serial The Great Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok. The serial was such a success, that Elliot portrayed Hickok in 12 other films, and even when he was not playing Hickok, his characters were often called "Wild Bill" (such as Wild Bill Saunders & Wild Bill Boone). Eventually, Elliot became so associated with "Wild Bill", that he was cast as a character named "Wild Bill Elliott" in the 1943 film Calling Wild Bill Elliott. In all, he essentially played a character of himself in over 30 films, often with both his credit and role listed as "Wild Bill Elliott"!

Important Added Info: Note that this script is the final draft from December 6, 1941. Also note that the writers are not credited on this but that the movie credits Fred Myton. Also note that the script has the working title "Gunsmoke in Paradise", but the movie ultimately was called "Prairie Gunsmoke".

Condition: good to very good. There is discoloration around the edges of the cover. There is a diagonal tear in the bottom left corner of the cover and the entire script was lightly folded down the middle.
