An Original Vintage Theatrical 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" [17 x 22 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Dark Road, the 1917 Charles Miller silent World War I (WWI) spy espionage romantic melodrama starring Dorothy Dalton, Robert McKim, Jack Livingston, John Gilbert (in an early role), Walt Whitman, and Lydia Knott. Note that John Gilbert was billed as "Jack Gilbert" in this movie (which is how he was billed in movies at this time). He had uncredited roles in 1915 and then had credited roles in 1916, but he still spent the next several years not achieving major stardom. One of his first major roles was in 1922 when he starred in an early version of "The Count of Monte Cristo". Of course, he would become a top star of the mid 1920s, and then he would co-star with a very young Greta Garbo, and the rest, as they say, is history! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
