An Original 1949 (from the first release of this movie in Denmark) Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/4" [62 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Anna Karenina, the 1948 Julien Duvivier English Russia romantic adultery melodrama (produced by Alexander Korda; based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy) starring Vivien Leigh (in the title role as Anna Karenina), Ralph Richardson (as Alexei Karenin), Kieron Moore (as Count Vronsky), Sally Ann Howes ("by permission of the J. Arthur Rank Organisation"), and Niall MacGinnis. Note that there was an earlier version of this movie under the same name in 1935 starring Greta Garbo and Fredric March (and Garbo had previously played this same role in a silent version in 1927 re-titled "Love", and there had been eight earlier silent versions between 1910 and 1919!). We have never auctioned ANY Danish movie posters for this film in all of our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There is light water staining in the middle left of the poster, and it has discolored the left of the solid blue area. There is also water staining in the top and bottom of the right of the image and in the middle right, but fortunately most of that staining does not show through to the front because it is in a solid black area. It is likely that much or all the water staining can be removed during the linenbacking process, and afterwards this rare poster will display fantastically and likely require almost no paint restoration.
