An Original Vintage Piece of German Original Art (measures 25 1/2" x 35" [65 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) Marlene Dietrich was a very popular German actress and singer from the 1920s through the 1950s! She started in German movies in the 1920s, and then got her big break in Josef von Sternberg's "The Blue Angel", which was made in both a German and an English version. That led to a series of wonderful movies with von Sternberg. Some of her other movies include: Destry Rides Again, Shanghai Express, The Scarlet Empress, A Foreign Affair, Morocco (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Blonde Venus, Touch of Evil, Witness for the Prosecution, and Judgment at Nuremberg. She passed away in 1992 at the age of 90. Artist: Kurt Glombig Important Added Info: Note that this is one of four Kurt Glombig originals which we are currently auctioning in four separate auctions. Mr. Glombig was German artist who was born in 1906. In the 1940s he created a series of "personality posters" for the German branch of MGM, and we have auctioned a number of those posters over the years, for a much as $312. Now we are auctioning actual original art by Mr. Glombig, so of course each is a one-of-a-kind original! Note that this art was created on poster board, which Mr. Glombig than cut out and glued to another sheet of poster board and he added background enhancements around the hair and also signed his name and wrote Ms. Dietrich's name on the backing board see our image). It is a heavy enough weight that it can't be rolled, so this art will need to be sent in a large flat package, so bear that in mind before placing a bid. Condition: good. There are many faint brown stains in the green background areas. Obviously this could be restored or the art could be displayed as is but bear that in mind before placing a bid.
