Artist: Howard Chaykin Important Added Info: Note that the last two examples of this poster we auctioned were both in "good to very good" condition (although one was signed by Mr. Chaykin), and those two auctioned for $2,780 and $2,575. This poster is in better condition than either of those, but of course it is not signed, as one of the earlier ones was. Note also that this is the very FIRST poster produced for the first Star Wars movie! In 1976, this poster was printed by George Lucas, and then was given away at places like the San Diego Comic Con in 1976 and 1977, in an attempt to get fans interested in the upcoming movie! It was labeled as the first in the series (it says, "Poster1" in the lower left corner) and more different posters were intended to be printed as giveaways, but no other posters were later made. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has several small partial horizontal creases scattered down the right side of the image with a few scattered in the rest of the image but they are not very noticeable or distracting. There are some creases in parts of the borders, more so in the top of the right blank border. The poster can absolutely be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one could choose to have it backed, but personally I would leave it as it is, completely unrestored. Learn More about condition grades
