An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Casey at the Bat, the 1916 Lloyd Ingraham silent baseball sports melodrama (based on the classic poem by Ernest Lawrence Thayer) starring DeWolf Hopper Sr. (billed as "De Wolf Hopper"; in the title role as Casey; he was the husband of Hedda Hooper from 1913 to 1924), Kate Toncray, Mae Giraci, Carl Stockdale, and William H. Brown. Note that DeWolf Hopper was also a vaudeville comedian who was the first to recite "Casey at the Bat" on stage in 1888, and it is estimated that he did over 10,000 performances of the poem over the next 44 years! Also note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
