North Dakota [crack ship of fleet] Enlist now!"; "Recruiting station 51 Cornhill Boston, Mass.") encouraging citizens to enlist in the Navy. Note that the USS North Dakota was a dreadnought battleship of the United States Navy which was commissioned in 1910. The ship had a peaceful career and during World War I, she remained in the U.S., training crewmen for the rapidly expanding wartime Navy. She remained on active duty through the early 1920s, until she was decommissioned and converted into a radio-controlled target ship. In 1931, she was sold for scrap and dismantled.
