An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Charlie Chan in Rio, the 1941 Harry Lachman South America Rio De Janeiro Brazil Asian detective mystery crime thriller ("It's Chan's most spine-tingling mystery!"; "Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers") starring Sidney Toler (in the title role as Charlie Chan), Mary Beth Hughes, Cobina Wright Jr., Ted North, Victor Jory, Harold Huber, Victor Sen Yung (as Jimmy Chan), Richard Derr, Jacqueline Dalya, Kay Linaker, and Iris Wong. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! The poster had small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other crossfolds. It had separation and scuffs on parts of some foldlines, and some pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. Note that at some point after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled and there are now minor creases in the bottom right corner of the poster (in the excess linen and very slightly in the bottom right corner of the poster). This is truly minor, and it would not show at all if the poster was framed. Learn More about condition grades
