An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (30x40; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Forbidden Planet, the classic 1956 Fred McLeod Wilcox science fiction (sci-fi) outer space robot monster thriller ("Amazing!"; "In Cinemascope and Color"; "Based on the story by Irving Block & Allen Adler"; very loosely adapted from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest"; about space men who journey to a distant planet, and they find that all the members of the original expedition have died, except for one man and his daughter, and they have discovered the secrets of a long lost civilization called "The Krell", which dwarfs anything humans have ever discovered, but there is a very dark side to those secrets that is soon revealed) starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Warren Stevens, Jack Kelly, Richard Anderson, Earl Holliman (as the cook, who was put in the movie for comic relief), Robby the Robot (billed as "Introducing Robby the Robot"), James Drury, and Frankie Darro (who was inside the robot suit until he was fired early in the production for showing up inebriated and almost damaging the expensive prop). Note that after Robby the Robot appeared in this movie, he had another movie role in "The Invisible Boy", and then he appeared in a slightly modified version as the robot in TV's "Lost in Space". On November 21, 2017, the original "Robby the Robot" was auctioned, and it sold for $5.375 million! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this 30x40 poster, and that was 32 years ago! It is many times more rare then the one-sheet, because it cost many times more for the theater to buy the 30x40 than the one-sheet, so surely few theaters ever ordered them, and very few survive! Condition: good. The poster has a vertical line of scuffing down the left of Robby's body, with other scuffs scattered in his body, more so in the lower half. It has scuffs scattered in the credits and in the background by it. It has a lesser amount of scuffs scattered in the rest of the poster. It has many creases and some tears around the edges and staining in the top right corner. This incredibly rare poster has never had any sort of restoration. Depending on how the new owner feels, they might certainly choose to display it as it is, allowing it to show its wear and its age, or they might instead choose to have restoration performed.
