A Folded French Advertising Poster (measures 23 1/4" x 31 1/4" [59 x 79 cm]) (Learn More) Alan Ladd was a major leading actor from the 1930s to the 1960s. Surprisingly, he appeared in a number of movies before he became a major star with his portrayal as a hired killer in "This Gun For Hire" in 1941. Some of his movies include: Shane, The Carpetbaggers, The Glass Key, The Blue Dahlia, and Two Years Before the Mast. He married much older Sue Carol, who had been a major actress in the 1920s and early 1930s, and who had become an agent. They remained married until he passed away in 1964 at the age of 50 from a drug and alcohol overdose. Artist: Roger Soubie Important Added Info: Note that this French poster was overprinted with Danish text for use in Denmark. Also, it mentions Ladd's 1942 film The Glass Key, which was first released in France in 1948 and Denmark in 1949. Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good.
