An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More) Two Years Before the Mast, the 1946 John Farrow high seas sailor swashbuckling pirate adventure thriller ("The world famous novel on the screen at last!"; "Based on the novel by Richard Henry Dana Jr."; about a man who is shanghaied onto a ship run by a sadistic captain; based on the true story which was turned into a novel by Richard Henry Dana, the man who was shanghaied) starring Alan Ladd, Brian Donlevy (as Richard Henry Dana), William Bendix, Barry Fitzgerald, Howard da Silva, Esther Fernandez, Albert Dekker, Luis Van Rooten, and Darryl Hickman. Note that Esther Fernandez was a popular Mexican actress who had never appeared in an American movie, and could barely speak English. But she was signed to appear in this movie (because they needed a pretty woman in a cast of all rough men), and she made this sole appearance, and then returned to Mexico. However, when this movie was released in an English/Spanish version for Spanish speaking audiences, Fernandez was bumped up to second billing under Alan Ladd! This was likely done to please Latin American audiences who were a major demographic during World War II. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this British quad was folded vertically three times and horizontally three times (this being folded one time more than is sometimes done, but it is quite common with British quads, especially older ones). Because of this, this quad can be sent in one of our standard size flat packages (but if it is purchased together with quads that have not been folded in the same way, then it will of course have to be sent in one of our tubes if the other quads are unfolded, or, if it is purchased with other quads that are only folded once horizontally than it can either be sent in an oversized flat package, OR in a tube). But if this quad is purchased by itself (or solely with other quads that have been folded the same way), then the shipping can be lower, because it then fits in a standard package. But please realize that because this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time it is likely that the creases have diminished and therefore re-folding the poster will likely bring some of those creases back, but we leave that decision as to whether or not to re-fold the poster up to the individual buyer of this item.
