An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Donald O'Connor was an actor from the 1930s to the 2000s. He started as a juvenile actor in the late 1930s, and then was paired with Gloria Jean by Universal in an attempt to make musicals similar to MGM's featuring Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. He continued as a popular musical actor throughout the 1940s, and in 1952, he had probably his greatest role in Singin' in the Rain, especially his "Make 'em Laugh" number! In the 1940s and 1950s, he was the star of the popular "Francis the Talking Mule" series of movies. Some of his other movies include: Out to Sea, That Funny Feeling, and Yes Sir, That's My Baby. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 78. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Donald O'Connor (it is a vintage still from 1953 that they signed in 1966)! Note that this item was consigned to us from the family of Ken Jones, who was an author of books about movies (including books about character actors and western stars). In the course of researching his books, he became friends with many Hollywood actors, and he would ask them to autograph stills for him (originals if he had them, or repros if he did not), and they obliged, usually returning the stills to him with a personalized inscription "To Ken". The family does not have a letter of authenticity for this signed item, but we feel certain it is authentic, given Mr. Jones' personal relationship with the star. Condition: good to very good.
