Martell Cognac, the early 1950s French magazine ad promoting Martell brand cognac (first made in 1715!) and featuring art of a glass of cognac on a chess board next to a knight chess piece by Yves Betin. If anyone knows more about this ad, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The magazine ad had printing on the reverse side and it slightly bleeds through to the front in the white areas. Overall, the ad was in nice condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the magazine ad "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
