Date Sold 2/14/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Style B Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Burn 'Em Up Barnes, the 1934 Colbert Clark & Armand Schaefer car racing sports action adventure inheritance crime serial ("Sizzling Speed - Nerves of Steel -"; "Mascot Super-Serial in 12 thrill-inspiring chapters!"; about a woman who inherits a lot of land she believes is worthless, but it has a ton of oil under it and is worth a fortune, and bad guys try to get it away from her, but fortunately, a race car driver, and the teen son of his best friend who was killed in a crash, are there to make sure that doesn't happen) starring Frankie Darro, Jack Mulhall (in the title role as "Burn-'em Up" Barnes), Lola Lane, Edwin Maxwell, and Jason Robards Sr. Note that it would seem that Lola Lane and Jack Mulhall were the stars of this movie, but Frankie Darro got billing over both of them, likely because he had the most impressive resume of the three, and was the biggest "draw"! Also note this serial was edited down to a feature length, and was shown in theaters that did not want to run the entire serial. The items from the feature version have "A MASCOT FEATURE" where the chapter titles were on the serial items. We list items from the feature version separately from the serial version. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is from an incredible collection of 76 glass slides that were recently discovered! Almost all of them are from 1931 to 1933 (with a very few from before and after). We are auctioning them in 76 separate auctions, and then there will be no more from this amazing find (except for a few duplicated ones, which we will auction at a later time). Not only are many wonderful titles included, but many of the slides are in remarkable condition, and quite a few of them do not have any showtimes or days of the week handwritten in the bottom area, and many likely look like they did when they were first sent to the theater! There have been several "finds" of glass slides over the many years we have been auctioning, but this is surely one of the greatest ever and it is a wonderful opportunity to purchase some or many of these extreme rarities! Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
