An Autographed Letter (measures 8 1/2" x 11"; 1 page) (Learn More) Daniel Taradash was a writer and director from the 1930s to the 1980s. Some of his movies include: Golden Boy, Knock on Any Door, From Here to Eternity, Alvarez Kelly, and The Other Side of Midnight. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 90. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Daniel Taradash! In it, he thanks David Mallery for sending him the book "Hollywood the Haunted House" (a book that Taradash was extensively quoted in). He says it is a "most interesting book, though I quarrel here and there with some comments and inclusions". The book was about the breakdown of the Hollywood system, and how the major studios influence was drastically decreasing, and Taradash goes on to say that he is amazed how the process has accelerated in just the two years since the book came out, and he says that "Hollywood may soon be an Empty House rather than a Haunted House"! It comes with the envelope that Mr. Taradash sent it in, which has his return address printed on it. Note that this letter comes from the estate of David Mallery. He was a professor of cinematography at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, from the 1960s into the 1990s. He was a founding member of the AFI (American Film Institute), and a member of the Motion Picture Academy. He was a film critic who wrote many reviews for many publications, and hosted a TV show where he interviewed directors, actors, and others involved in the film industry. Over the years, he developed both working and close personal relationships with many actors, actresses, and directors, including Frank Capra, Charlton Heston and others. We are currently auctioning 24 letters from directors and actors to Mr. Mallery. Almost all of them are written "from one friend to another", and are in no way "stock" replies to "fan letters", and all are personally signed, and some are entirely or partially handwritten. Most have excellent content covering a wide range of subjects, and they are a fascinating glimpse into these celebrities' personal lives! Condition: very good to fine.
