A 1948 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Nabonga (Gorilla), the 1944 Sam Newfield African jungle ape adventure thriller starring Buster Crabbe, Barton MacLaine, Fifi D'Orsay, Julie London (billed as "introducing Julie London"), Bryant Washburn, and Ray Corrigan (in the title role as Nabonga, the gorilla!). Note that this movie was released in England as "The Jungle Woman". Note that Crash Corrigan made a REALLY wise investment in the 1930s, when he bought a "gorilla suit". In many of the movies in the 1940s where there is a fake gorilla, it is played by Crash Corrigan, no doubt because he could supply the suit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1948 re-release pressbook, and only one example of the 1944 first release pressbook (19 years ago)! Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
