Important Added Info: Note that this is a fascinating poster! We have previously auctioned a poster that measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/2" and looks like a very large Belgian poster, but it has an emblem in the top left corner that has a map of Africa, and we have been told that it is a poster for the release of this movie in the Belgian Congo (probably a re-release from the 1950s). But THIS poster (which we have never seen before) has the same emblem in the top left, but was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap, and measures 38 1/2" x 51 1/2"! It has artwork that clearly predates the other poster, and we are guessing that it is from the 1940s, and it certainly could be from the first release there, but given how popular this movie was, we would suspect it is a re-release. We certainly wish the poster was in far better condition, but it "is what it is"! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great!

Condition: fair. The poster was printed in two sections and then mounted onto brown kraft paper so that it is on a single sheet (this was surely done right when the movie was released, as a way of preserving the poster from theater to theater). But the poster has REALLY major defects, as seen in our image. There are many pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges, and some scattered throughout the image, with many creases, scuffs, and stains as well. But in spite of all these defects, the poster is surely worth rescuing, because we have never seen it before, and it has a wonderful image. But please read our description above and look at our super-sized image before placing a bid on this poster.
