From the early 20th century onwards, an association began with P&O which became 51% shareholder in 1919 and culminated in the Orient Line being totally absorbed into that company in 1966. Artist: Percy Trompf Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! It features Percy Trompf artwork of three Australian horsemen and proudly promotes the Orient Line's 20,000 ton ships. Percival Albert Trompf was an Australian artist, best known for his travel posters, books and pamphlets promoting the nation's tourist industry. His work was recognized as distinctive during his career and since, Art Deco in style, and innovative in its use of flat color. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was tri-folded at one time. It had some creases and scuffs around the edges. Many years ago it was backed on to a paperbacking and no restoration was performed. It appears that after it was backed, it acquired diagonal paper loss in the top left corner and also it was handled roughly which brought back the top fold.
