An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Chained, the 1934 Clarence Brown ocean cruise romantic love triangle melodrama ("When she's in his arms ...it's the grandest thrill the screen can give!"; about a woman who is a mistress of a rich older man, and while on a cruise with him, meets a poor but handsome young man and falls in love, but she is "chained" to the rich man!) starring Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Otto Kruger, Stuart Erwin, Una O'Connor, and Akim Tamiroff NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this great scene card, and the last one was 16 years ago, when it sold for $306. That last example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! Note that this card has a wonderful stamp on the back from the poster exchange distributed it to theaters (in the 1930s, poster exchanges would sell the posters and lobby cards to theaters, but then offer exchange credit on returned posters and lobby cards, so they could be re-sold to other theaters, but they needed them back quickly, or else they would not have other theaters to sell them to, so the exchanges gave one half credit after five weeks, and no credit after eight weeks). The stamp reads "DATE SOLD APR 8 1937 Return Advertising Every 2 Weeks - On advertising over 5 weeks old from date of Stamp, only 1/2 credit will be allowed. Paper over 8 weeks old from date of Stamp: - no credit. PEERLESS ADVERTISING CO." Note that the stamp on the back does not affect the front at all, and that it is certainly a cool addition to this card! Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good to fine.
