Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this Australian daybill. The buyer had the poster linenbacked and has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned! Note that this is one of an amazing collection of 62 linenbacked Australian daybills that all have great art from Richardson Studio (or John Richardson, before he became "Richardson Studio"!), which many collectors feel have the best art and design of any Australian daybills, and are highly sought after by collectors. These were accumulated by a very dedicated collector over many years, and they are now being all offered at once (in 62 separate auctions), so this is a wonderful opportunity to obtain one or many of these daybills, many of which rarely are offered for sale or at auction. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was folded vertically, and it also had an additional horizontal fold, with some small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of the folds and some paper loss in three areas in the top border, with two slightly extending into the red background. There was an L-shaped tear at top center that extended into the "DI" of "DIETRICH". Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
